Introduction to the Special Issue: Artificial Intelligence and Education

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping educational systems worldwide, influencing how teaching, learning, assessment, and educational management are designed and delivered. This special issue, Artificial Intelligence and Education, aims to provide a comprehensive forum for scholarly discussion on the theoretical foundations, practical applications, opportunities, and challenges of AI in educational contexts. It seeks to explore how AI-driven tools—such as intelligent tutoring systems, learning analytics, adaptive learning environments, automated assessment, and generative AI—can enhance educational quality, equity, personalization, and efficiency across diverse learning settings.

At the same time, the special issue emphasizes critical perspectives, including ethical considerations, data privacy, algorithmic bias, transparency, teacher roles, and policy implications. By bringing together interdisciplinary research and evidence-based practices, this special issue intends to advance understanding of AI’s transformative potential in education while fostering responsible and human-centered innovation. Contributions are expected to inform researchers, educators, policymakers, and technology developers about current trends and future directions in this rapidly evolving field.
