Topic Scope
Patient safety in the pre-hospital stage – key areas
1. Assessment of the patient's condition
Accurate diagnosis of life-threatening conditions,
Quick identification of priorities (e.g., ABC, Glasgow scale, NEWS),
Proper qualification for hospitalization or on-site treatment.
2. Communication with the dispatch center and the patient
Correct collection of information during the call (e.g., exact location, symptoms, duration),
Confirmation of the patient's identity,
Transfer of information between the dispatcher and the emergency medical services.
3. Application of appropriate medical procedures
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, defibrillation, oxygen therapy,
Administration of emergency medication (e.g., adrenaline in anaphylaxis),
Securing the patient (e.g., wound care, spinal stabilization, intubation).
4. Patient transport
Selection of the appropriate type of transport (ambulance “S”, “P”, LPR helicopter),
Safe transfer of the patient (stretcher, belts, orthopedic boards),
Monitoring of health status during transport.
5. Medical documentation
Accurate completion of the emergency medical procedures card (KMCR),
Transfer of documentation to the hospital,
Reporting suspected violence, poisoning, etc. in accordance with legal obligations.
6. Data security and confidentiality
Protection of personal data (GDPR),
Providing information only to authorized persons.
7. Environmental safety
Assessing the scene of the incident for hazards (fire, gas, traffic),
Use of protective clothing (e.g., in cases of infection),
Securing your own emergency medical services
